Myeongwol Elementary School opened on July 23, 1955 as a branch school of Hallim Elementary School, and 101 children graduated in 13 years. It is the old site of learning that nurtured children. However, due to a decrease in the number of children attending, the school was closed on March 1, 1993, and integrated into Hallim Elementary School. As a result of a lot of effort to restore the school as it was 70 years after it was closed in 1993, Myeongwol Elementary School reopened after a long vacation. The space was newly reborn so that you can listen to the sound of wind, birds, and trees in the playground and put them in your heart.
명월국민학교는 1955년 7월 23일 한림초등학교 명월분교장으로 개교하여 13년 동안 101명의 어린이들이 졸업했고, 1968년 본교로 승격된 후 25년 동안 671명의 졸업생을 배출하여 이 고장 어린이들에게 꿈과 희망을 키워주던 배움의 옛터이다. 그러나 취학 어린이가 줄어들어 1993년 3월 1일에 폐교되면서 한림국민학교에 통합되었다. 1993년 폐교 후 70여 년의 오래 된 학교 그대로의 모습을 복원하려 많은 노력을 한 결과, 명월국민학교는 오랜 시간의 방학이 지나고 새롭게 개학을 하게 되었다. 운동장에서 들리는 바람소리, 새소리, 나무소리를 귀로 듣고 마음에 담아 갈 수 있도록 공간을 새롭게 재탄생시켰다.
