The icon of great king 'Yeongjo'

Eojin, which is painted during pre-modern times, refers to a portrait of an king. As above, Eojin is valuable as relics representing an era. Most of the eojin of the Korean dynasty "Joseon" was destroyed by the Korean War. For this reason, many people wonder what did the king look like. As great people of the Joseon Dynasty have been mainly printed for bill and coin. So, the appearance of kings of the Joseon Dynasty can be a unique topic of Korea that is able to be used as a design. Therefore, this project is to express about curiosity what would it look like to icon the king based on the remaining Eojin.

어진은 전근대 시기에 그려진 옛 왕의 초상화를 가리킨다. 이러한 어진은 한 시대를 대표하는 유물로서 가치가 있다. 한국의 왕조 ‘조선’의 어진은 한국 전쟁으로 대부분이 소실되었다. 당시 왕의 모습은 어떠할까. 조선 시대의 위인을 화폐에 주로 사용하는 만큼, 조선 시대의 왕의 모습은 디자인으로도 활용 가능한 한국만의 소재이다. 이에, 남아있는 어진과 현 시대에 그려진 어진을 바탕으로, 왕을 아이콘화 한다면 어떤 모습일까. 이 프로젝트는 왕의 어진을 아이콘화 하는 프로젝트이다.
